Off to see the world: Taroko

Nous nous levons tôt pour ne pas manquer l'ouverture du tunnel (cf. article précédent) et nous avons droit à un petit déjeuner traditionnel chinois (les cacahuètes étaient bonnes) puis nous reprenons la voiture et passons ce foutu tunnel.
Nous voici donc au milieu des fameuses gorges de Taroko, l'un des plus beaux sites de Taiwan. Nous avons même droit à un bout de ciel bleu. Les gorges sont en effet magnifiques parsemées de temples et entourées de nuages. Nous faisons différentes promenades et la route est plus facile de plein jour et sans brouillard.
Nous arrivons finalement à Hualien en fin d'après midi après avoir vu les impressionnantes falaises de Ching-shui atteignant les 800m au dessus de la mer et avec une eau turquoise malgré le ciel gris.

Le lendemain matin nous allons à la plage de Xincheng où nous pouvons voir l'océan pacifique avant de rendre la voiture et prendre le train pour retourner à Taipei.

We got up early so as not to miss the tunnel being open (see preceding article) and we had a traditional Chinese breakfast to start off the day (which consists of a variety of pickles to put in rice porridge... we left most of it) before getting back in the car to go through the blooming tunnel.

And there we were! In the middle of the famous Taroko Gorge, one of the most beautiful areas of Taiwan - and we even had a bit of blue sky! (Not for the whole day, of course, but for a bit of the morning.) The Gorge was truly magnificent, with temples dotted on the sides of the hills and the tops covered in clouds. We did a few different short walks and the driving was much easier for Guillaume in the daylight and without fog.

We finally arrived in Hualien at the end of the afternoon after having visited the Ching-shui cliffs, which are 800m above the Pacific Ocean - still a beautiful turquoise despite the now grey sky. The following morning we went to Xincheng beach to see the (foggy) Pacific again before returning the car and taking the train back to Taipei.
