Off to see the world: Amanohashidate

Dernier jour sur Kyoto. Nous allons à Arashiyama connu pour la forêt de bamboo et le jardin de l'acteur Okochi Denjiro (Okochi Senso Villa) avec de très belles vues sur les montagnes et calme. Puis direction Nara qui a une gigantesque statue de bouddha et des daims diaboliques qui veulent à tout prix manger (chercher dans les sacs et poursuivre des vielles sont leur passe-temps favoris). En fin d'après midi nous allons sur Osaka pour voir les cerisiers en fleurs et visiter le jardin flottant en haut de la plus grande tour d'Osaka. Nous mangeons à Din Tai Fung mais c'est moins bon qu'à Taipei.

Très tôt le lundi, nous quittons Kyoto pour Amanohashidate ("le pont du ciel") qui offre l'une des 3 plus belles vues du Japon (celle qui me manquait après Miyaji et Sendai). Le voyage en train est long (~2h) Amanohashidate est une dune de 3km qui relie les 2 côtés de la baie. Nous faisons l'aller retour mais nous n'avons pas le temps de monter sur la montagne pour avoir une vue d'ensemble, dommage! Apparemment en haut de la montagne, il faut tourner le dos, se plier en avant et regarder entre les jambes pour voir le "pont" flotter...

Nous reprenons le train pour retourner sur Kyoto pour embarquer dans un shinkansen vers Tokyo. Après 6h de voyage nous arrivons finalement sur Tokyo, notre dernière destination au Japon!

On Sunday we went to a bamboo grove and an old Japanese actor's villa, which was calm and had gorgeous views over the mountains behing Kyoto and then visited Nara, which has a huge bronze buddha as well as some terrifyingly realistic wooden guardians on the daimon and lots of deer. In the evening we went to Osaka to see the floating garden, which is actually a viewing gallery at the top of two skyscrapers and to see some more cherry blossoms along the river.

An early start on Monday (after a late night on Sunday...) to get the train to Amanohashidate, a spit that offers another one of the three most scenic views in Japan (the third is north of Tokyo, Guillaume's already been and we don't have time to fit it in this time). After quite a long train journey we arrived and walked along the very windy and definitely quite chilly spit - but the sun was out and the pine trees and sea were beautiful. We didn't have time to take the cable car up to the viewing platform unfortunately, but apparently from there if you stand with you head between your legs the spit looks like a dragon ascending to heaven. I reckon someone at the tourist office just has an excellent sense of humour and a hidden camera. On the way back a boat was passing from one side of the spit to the other so the old-fashioned mechanical bridge opened to let it through - leaving an old man stranded on the remaining middle section. Then it was back on the train to get to Kyoto station to board yet another train for Tokyo. After hours we finally arrived.
